Complementation and Noncomplementation among Nonallelic Mutations Altering Development in SCHIZOPHYLLUM COMMUNE.

چکیده
Mutations resistant to compounds that alter the development of Schizophyllum commune (cyclic adenosine monophosphate, caffeine and imidazole) were selected. These mutations defined four genes, car (cAMP resistance), caf-1 and caf-2 (caffeine resistance) and imr (imidazole resistance). The mutations were found to be noncomplementing in certain pairs when tested against each other and against two previously isolated developmental mutations, B-con and sep (septateless), in fully compatible, forced heterokaryons. The pattern of complementation in fully compatible diploids showed noncomplementation only between allelic mutations, except for one case, imr vs. car.

Rules of nonallelic noncomplementation at the synapse in Caenorhabditis elegans.
Nonallelic noncomplementation occurs when recessive mutations in two different loci fail to complement one another, in other words, the double heterozygote exhibits a phenotype. We observed that mutations in the genes encoding the physically interacting synaptic proteins UNC-13 and syntaxin/UNC-64 failed to complement one another in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Noncomplementation was no...
متن کاملPhenoloxidase activity in mycelia carrying modifier mutations that affect sporocarp development in Schizophyllum commune.
Phenoloxidase activity was studied in mycelia carrying mutations that affect sporocarp formation. The results suggest that phenoloxidase activity may be essential to, but is not sufficient for, the fruiting response in Schizophyllum.
متن کاملEvaluation of Chitin-Glucan Complex Production in Submerged Culture of Medicinal Mushroom of Schizophilum commune: Optimization and Growth Kinetic
Background: Schizophyllum commune, is one of the important medicinal-fungi foods in the world. Due to its important constituents such as extracellular and intracellular polysaccharides, it is widely used in industry and medicine. One of the important polysaccharides of this fungus is chitin-glucan complex (CGC). The aim of this study was to investigate the growth of native fungus Schizophyllum ...
متن کاملNew Mutations and a 7-Chromosome Linkage Map of SCHIZOPHYLLUM COMMUNE.
Forty-eight useful new mutations of S. commune were obtained by mutagenesis with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine. Their requirements and meiotic linkage relationships to each other and previously mapped areas were investigated. Several of these new mutations were incorporated into diploid strains so that the diploids contained at least one marker on every linkage group. Analysis of somatic...
متن کاملIdentification of alg3 in the mushroom-forming fungus Schizophyllum commune and analysis of the Δalg3 knockout mutant.
Alg3 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae catalyzes the mannosyl transfer from Man-P-Dol to Man(5)GlcNAc(2)-PP-Dol resulting in the formation of Man(6)GlcNAc(2)-PP-Dol, which is then further processed to the final precursor oligosaccharide Glc(3)Man(9)GlcNAc(2) for N-glycosylation of proteins. Here, we identified the alg3 gene of the mushroom-forming fungus Schizophyllum commune by homology search. Its ...
